What is EDI X12 211?
EDI X12 211 is an electronic version of a Motor Carrier Bill of Lading. It is sent from shipper / seller and works as a receipt for transport services provided by the motor carrier. Though a legally binding document to help a driver (and carrier) process and ship a load correctly, EDI 211 doesn’t replace a load tender (EDI 204), pickup manifest, or appointment scheduling.
Like its paper counterpart, an it contains:
- Shipment ID number
- Date and time (of pick-up / delivery)
- Status report request (upon delivery)
- Business instructions
- Handling requirements
- Bill of lading rates and charges
- Lading quantity / weight / freight Class / value
- Contact information
