Tradacoms

What is Tradacoms?

Tradacoms is an early standard for EDI, designed for domestic trade and primarily used in the UK retail sector. The Tradacoms standard encompasses 25 messages, each set out in a hierarchical structure. Unlike EDIFACT, Tradacoms does not use a single message format but instead uses multiple messages that constitute a transmission.

Example Tradacoms File

Nowadays, people tend to use more EDI than Tradacoms but in the UK, it is still a common standard. It is pretty straightforward, even more when you are used to the 25 messages of the Tradacoms files.
