Since January 1, 2025, every business in Germany has had to be able to receive e-invoices. On January 1, 2027, the mandate moves to its next phase: companies with an annual turnover above €800,000 must also issue structured e-invoices for domestic B2B transactions, in a format that complies with the European standard EN 16931, such as XRechnung or ZUGFeRD. A PDF sent by email will no longer count as an e-invoice for these companies.
