EDIFACT stands for Electronic Data Interchange For Administration, Commerce and Transport. EDIFACT is a widely accepted international EDI standard used by many organisations.
EDIFACT defines the syntax to structure data for over 200 business documents (like invoices, orders, despatch notes, etc. ) such that they can be exchanged unambiguously between 2 between partners.
In practice, a single organisation would typically handle 2 to 8 business document types.
