EDI 214, or a Transportation Carrier Shipment Status Message, is an electronic data interchange (EDI) document used exclusively in the transportation industry. EDI 214 gives shippers / sellers the ability to track shipments generally managed by Less Than Truckload (LTL) and Full Truckload (FTL) carriers. Multiple transmissions of EDI 214 can occur throughout load pickup and delivery, triggered by arrival / departure events as well as by completion of the delivery itself. EDI 214 contains:
• Shipment ID number
• Shipment status
• Date and time
• City and state location
• Shipment packaging, weight, and quantity details
• Handling requirements
