X.400 or VAN (Value-added Network): X.400 a widely implemented protocol for EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) services. Babelway supports transfer to and from X.400 networks or value-added EDI networks though interconnect agreements to these networks. This protocol differs from all others in the sense that Internet is not the underlying network. The network originally belonged to national PTT and is now the proprety of private companies (eg. GXS, Isabel, Atlas, AT&T, etc.)

Babelway main interconnect agreement is with OnlyVan, a French company that provides VAN interconnect agreements with most other VAN networks.
