Aug. 10th, 2011 : The Cloud is Down, Babelway is Up.
Amazon EC2, the world's largest cloud infrastructure provider, has experienced a 30-minute downtime August 7th 2011. This caused Netflix, Foursquare, Quora, Reddit and many other Internet services to go down. Babelway is also proudly using Amazon EC2 since 2007 when we started our 'B2B Integration in the Cloud' company. The Amazon incident is the opportunity to explain how we guarantee service availability at Babelway.
Babelway rests in 2 distinct cloud infrastructure (Amazon EC2 and Combell) working in sync. We organised load-balancing and automatic fail-over between the 2. A major investment spanning several years. As a result Babelway service is still up and running even when one of them is not available. This is a very important feature of Babelway, in particular when B2B flows (EDI, e-invoices, etc. ) are crucial for your business.
No company, as serious it is, can guarantee 100% availability. But we try very hard. Our track record (over 99,99%) speaks for us.
