Belgian Icecream Group (BIG) and Babelway
The Company: BIG is the largest manufacturer of ice cream brand products in Belgium. The company produces three renowned, traditional ice cream brands: IJsboerke, Mio and Artic. In addition to traditional sales by distributive trade (supermarkets, wholesalers, catering industry, etc.), BIG also sells their ice cream directly to consumers. Their orange vans have been around for many years selling delicious ice cream to more than 200,000 families. BIG also runs a number of impulse outlets at large shopping malls in places such as Wijnegem, Sint-Niklaas, Tongeren and Liège.
The Business Challenge: BIG had already outsourced the handling of outgoing invoices to UnifiedPost, the specialist in document outsourcing. More and more supermarkets customers were requesting electronic documents in replacement or in parallel from the traditional paper invoice. The challenge was not to multiply providers to handle outgoing invoices in order to address the various needs of the different customer segments.
The Solution: UnifiedPost and Babelway teamed up to propose a all-in-one solution to BIG. The existing business relationship and technical link between UnifiedPost and BIG stayed calmly in place while UnifiedPost routes the invoicing data for the supermarkets requesting electronic documents via Babelway. 18 of the larger customers of Big, in Belgium but also in Holland, France and Spain are receiving electronic invoices from BIG, without any change to BIG existing IT environment.
